Holly Perron

A new year means new opportunities to revamp your home design, and gorgeous new examples of shutters in houses in Philadelphia and across the country. That also means a new Share Your Shutters contest winner, and the first of 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of the many towns around the country whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the season. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a huge amount of sunlight from flooding into the home. In Elk Grove or in Philadelphia, that’s a boon to any savvy homeowner who wants a lot of customizability in their space.

Plantation shutters also block thermal energy, which means they’re perfect for homeowners who experience blistering summers or frigid winters, or who just want to up their home’s energy efficiency. That means a more comfortable home and money saved every month with lower energy bills.

Katie’s new shutters also take advantage of some newer home design trends. Neutral-colored settings such as her brown wall are becoming very popular, with differing splashes of colors–in Katie’s home the white of the Polywood shutters–providing points of interest throughout the room. Available in a range of white and off-white colors, plantation shutters can fill a nice role in modern interior design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie will receive a $100 gift certificate to a local restaurant, and will have her plantation shutters featured with our previous winners.
